I Accidentally Unsubscribed Someone from my MailChimp Mailing List.

The post title should read “I accidentally unsubscribed Someone from my Clients Mailing List.”

I have one of my clients WordPress websites backed up to a development server, I deleted all subscriber user accounts, hoping to leave only admin user accounts. The problem was; I had “AutoChimp” plugin installed and active, (AutoChimp adds new registrations to your MailChimp mailing list database) so when I deleted the “subscribed users” from the development WordPress installation – I also automatically unsubscribed these users from the MailChimp list. My client was a little nervous as she didn’t know what was happening, I explained what happened and that I would fix it – obviously for free.

I contacted the MailChimp support team, they said this happens from time to time and they told me how to fix the problem.

So to manually add a person(s) to a mailing list after accidentally unsubscribing them, you must do the following:

  1. Go to Lists > View list > View all subscribers.
  2. Choose unsubscribed from the drop down menu.
  3. Click view for the email address.
  4. Select the delete button to delete the subscriber from your list entirely.
  5. Click add people to add the subscriber back to your list.

P.S. AutoChimp is a great plugin, you should use it automatically subscribe, unsubscribe, and update users to your MailChimp mailing list.

P.S.S MaiChimp Customer Support was amazing, they offered a solution in under 10 seconds. Thanks Van!
